Why You Should Be Planning Your Client's Holiday Campaigns...Yesterday
Do you know why Christmas in July exists? Because that's actually when you should start planning your holiday content...
Did we just scare you there? That's how we felt when Heather, Pinterest Expert, came into our mentorship for a guest masterclass. She reminded us how early you have to be when it comes to holiday content, because holiday topics start trending on Pinterest as early as August. See for yourself...
And this doesn't just apply to Pinterest either. While you should start posting your holiday content sooner on Pinterest because of its evergreen algorithm, other platforms need love too.
Planning your holiday campaigns for all platforms will help you big time. This gives you enough time to come up with a comprehensive strategy that makes allllll your platforms and channels feel cohesive. We love a quick pop-up content shoot or BOGO deal as much as the next person, but this isn't enough for holiday campaigns anymore. Your Black Friday weekend sale deserves more from you; your holiday content does, too.
So start EARLY! We want those HUGE holiday campaigns that go viral (we know, we know, that’s not the point) like Fortune 500 brands for you, and that doesn't come from a five-minute planning sess and a Canva graphic.
That means that we need time to brainstorm, strategize, get our graphics or content shoot together, and implement holiday campaigns for our clients and ourselves, because you know, we can skip on our socials, either.
When Should I Start Planning Holiday Campaigns?
Every brand is different, so remember to adapt this a bit for you and your clients. But, as a good rule of thumb, 3 months before the holiday is when you should start posting on Pinterest, and/or start strategy & planning for your other platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. If you're doing the math on this, that actually means RIGHT NOW! It's September already, which means Black Friday is three months away, and this is the perfect time to start.
How Do I Start Planning for Holiday Campaigns?
Send your clients an email to get the process started. Don't be afraid to be the one to start this conversation. If we wait for clients to start it, we might be spending our Thanksgiving making Black Friday graphics. Send your clients a note to start thinking about sales, content ideas, deals, etc., and give them some inspiration to move the process along.
