New Social Media Updates And News for Social Media Managers

If you're already a member of our email newsletter for social media managers, The Group Chat, you already know we've been obsessing over, sharing, and diving into how to use these new app features.

If you're just catching up, here's what's new on Instagram, Threads, and TikTok lately.

Instagram News

  1. Instagram content is now showing up in Google search results. Translation: your keyword strategy isn’t just for blogs anymore. Optimize those captions, alt text, and profile bios like someone’s going to Google you… because now they can.

  2. You can now send a preview of your Reels to a friend (or a coworker) before publishing. No comments, no shares, just a safe space for pre-publish feedback. And the draft stays saved! Perfect for overthinkers who currently screen record everything to text to coworkers at midnight (sorry fam)

  3. Reels just got a Quiz sticker. I love this for engagement, but Instagram, can we also talk about bringing quizzes back to Stories? Asking for… all of us

  4. Carousel analytics is getting a glow-up. Instagram’s testing slide-by-slide like counts so you can finally confirm that Slide 2 is the crowd favorite.

  5. Auto-scroll is in testing. The app will feed you post after post hands-free. A productivity killer? 1000%.  Will I still try it? Also, 1000%.

  6. Reposts are getting a new layer of strategy. Instagram is testing the ability to repost content from other creators and have it show up in your own grid — opening up more ways to collaborate and keep your feed fresh without reinventing the wheel.

  7. Location sharing is expanding. Instagram is testing a feature that lets you share your location directly in DMs — potentially great for IRL events or meetups, but also…a little creepy.

  8. Adam Mosseri confirmed that “link in bio” does not hurt reach. So you can keep telling people where to click without fear of algorithmic revenge.

Threads News

  1. Threads analytics just leveled up. You can now see where people found your posts and get deeper insights into followers and engagement.

  2. Photos in DMs are live, and GIF sharing + group chats are in testing. Basically, Threads is working its way toward feeling like every other app you already use.

TikTok News

  1. TikTok is testing native in-app scheduling. Yes, TikTok Studio has had it for a while, but this means you can finally plan posts without leaving the app.

  2. Creator Search Insights are now on desktop. Think trending topics, search popularity scores, content gaps, and what your followers are actually looking for. It’s basically a cheat sheet for creating content that hits.

How are you going to leverage these new updates?
